Tomorrow, September 6th – at sundown, the entire Hebraic world will observe Yom Teruah ~ “The Day of Shouting”.
Many of you may be less than familiar with Yom Teruah, but have likely heard of Rosh Hoshannah, or “the Head of the Year”… which, I reiterate is a complete misnomer – at least in as much as we seek to understand God’s calendar and reckoning of time. Notably, each year, Nehemiah Gordon re-posts the article which explains How Yom Teruah Became Rosh Hashanah.
It’s far more than some trivial or menial issue. Understanding the actual Holy Days – the Appointed Times of God is integral to understanding the times and what is to come:
… I am God, and there is none like me, who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand what has not yet occurred; who says, ‘My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire’ …
Isaiah 46:9 – 10
If this is all “Greek” to you, I might suggest having a look at the articles The Creator’s Calendar – Part One and Part Two. This may at least provide a foundation for understanding some of what I’m discussing today.
You may have heard it said that the Spring Feasts have been fulfilled and that we are awaiting the fulfillment of the Fall Feasts – there’s a bit more nuance at play, but at a macro-level, this is true. The question I put before you today is this; do you understand the meaning and significance of them? I would advise a rigorous study of Leviticus 23; a sort of “one stop shop” for beginning on the continual journey of revelation concerning the Appointed Times.
So, once we move past the idea of Rosh Hashannah to ascertain God’s appointed time, we should immediately arrive at the question; why? What does this signify?
Understanding that the – again, for the most part – the Fall Feasts look forward to fulfillment, I would posit the following;
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1 Thessalonians 4:16
Do you see it? Do you see the correlation and the clear indicator that this is a foreshadowing of His Triumphant return?
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me, that is a definite reason to celebrate! These appointed times however, are more than celebration, they are rehearsals.
You get that right?
