Tomorrow evening, Monday September 20th, Sukkot begins. It begins at sundown specifically and this is done because in God’s timing, the new day begins at sundown. Each and every appointed time acts as both a celebration and a prophetic picture of what was and what will be. You may have heard it said that the spring feasts look to the first coming of messiah, and the fall feasts to His second coming… and it’s true, though I would argue that all of the feasts actually speak to both in some way, shape or form.
Sukkot is one of my favorite holidays – second only to Passover – because of what it signifies; that He tabernacled among us and that He will do so again! In fact, Sukkot presents us with a picture of the Millennial reign. On the eighth day, we have a final celebration that closes out the season. Personally, I see this as a prophetic foreshadowing of eternity; the last great day when “all things are accomplished”.
If you’re not up to speed on the subject of Sukkot, you can have a look at the article Sukkot – סוכות – better yet, go to the source. You’ll be looking to start at verse 33 in particular.
