Signs of the Times

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

He said, “When evening comes you say, ‘It will be fair weather, because the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times…”

Matthew 16:2 – 3

This post marks the beginning of an ongoing narrative. I do not know how many articles it will be comprise of, nor the depth of detail we’ll go into, I only know that the Lord has been highlighting to me the absolute need for clarity at this present time. Let me explain…

As you may or may not be aware, I am something of a researcher. The past several years I’ve become very fond of studying ancient biblical history, particularly through the lens of a Hebraic world-view. I have often found myself surprised by the number of “rabbit trails” that pop up along the way – sometimes these course deviations lead me to conclusions that are immediately relevant to the present time…

So there I was, minding my business, when a name came across my path. It was not a name I’d ever encountered before and honestly, wasn’t relevant to anything I was looking for at the time – at least I didn’t think so. About the third time this name popped up however, I decided to stop and have a look. Such repeated interruptions are often the Lord directing my attention, but can also be mere distractions from the task at hand, I therefore proceed in a manner of discernment.

The Claim

Joseph Gregory Hallett has laid claim to the throne of England, citing illegitimacy of ascension of the current royal family and boasting the title King John III.

Go ahead – roll your eyes – I certainly did.

Despite my immediate, shall we say “skepticism”, I pressed on. I have said before, and maintain the principle I find from the hand of King Solomon:

The one who gives an answer before he listens — that is his folly and his shame.

Proverbs 18:13

I mean… he’s Solomon. Who the heck am I to argue? So with that in mind, I went on to investigate the issue further. Much of what has been presented on the matter seems fairly convoluted in my opinion, but let me give an extremely brief break-down of the assertion as best I understand it:

  • Hallett asserts that King George V was illegitimate and that Edward VII was not his biological father.
  • This would invalidate the succession of Edward VIII who abdicated the throne, George VI who then assumed the throne and subsequently, the reign of Elizabeth II, the current Queen of England.
  • Hallett further asserts that Queen Anne Boleyn was not executed as commonly believed and bred “posthumously” with the Pope, “reinvigorating the Holy Grael Lineage”…
  • Hallett asserts that he directly descends from this lineage and is therefore a legitimate claimant to the throne and entitled by bloodline to bear the name King John III.
  • Hallett further asserts that he is, therefore rightful holder of the position(s) and title(s) Mashiach, Holy Grael and Christ.

If this sounds like a spin-off from the plot of the Da Vinci Code, you’re not far off the mark. This points to a theology, which holds that Yeshua / Jesus married and sired a bloodline. Understand that while such views were more prominently held in ages past, these beliefs never actually went away. In fact, while the organizations that fostered and espoused them have morphed throughout the ages, their belief systems have not. Two leap to mind and as it happens, Hallett has in fact been refereed to as “the Rosicrucian Boy King”.

The Issue

As I began to get my head around what this individual is actually claiming, I also began to understand that he has a fair number of very enthusiastic supporters. I was able to easily identify such in England, Ireland, Australia, Canada and the United States.

This is a problem. You understand that… right?

For starters, if there were any substance to Hallett’s claims, this would mark him – not as “Mashiach” or “Christ”, but as Anti-Messiah / Anti-Christ. The fact that this, in my opinion obvious point, escapes many speaks to a profound scriptural ignorance pervading the world at this time.

FULL STOP: Note that I did not say that Hallet is the Anti-Christ. I am stating that if his claims have merit, he would be – a candidate at the very least. The difference is massive. Moving on…

Furthermore, among those who are acquainted with what the bible actually says, far too many ascribe to what I labelled in my previous article as Cliff’s Notes Christianity. Is it any wonder that flagrantly heretical theology and doctrine proliferate?

Now, I have stated many times we should be prepared to answer the difficult questions, and the logical question to raise here would be “why would this mark him as (an) Anti-Christ?” This question stems from a more fundamental question – “why is bloodline theology heretical?”

The answer, in simplest terms, is that if Jesus came to establish a bloodline reign over mankind, then inasmuch as the last two millennia are concerned, He would have failed.

“When your days come to an end and you sleep with your ancestors, I will establish one of your descendants to succeed you, one of your own flesh and blood; and I will set up his rulership. He will build a house for my name, and I will establish his royal throne forever. I will be a father for him, and he will be a son for me. If he does something wrong, I will punish him with a rod and blows, just as everyone gets punished; nevertheless, my grace will not leave him, as I took it away from Sha’ul, whom I removed from before you. 16 Thus your house and your kingdom will be made secure forever before you; your throne will be set up forever.’” Natan told David all of these words and described this entire vision.

2 Samuel 7:12 – 17 CJB

This prophecy, also found in 1 Chronicles 17 and referenced many times throughout scripture, points to both the succession of Solomon and the coming of the Mashiach, or the Messiah… the Anointed One. Understood in any other context renders it false. Do you understand that – do you understand why?

There have, since before the birth of Yeshua, been those who ruled and reigned, holding authority over Jerusalem and Israel, who were not even of Hebraic, let alone Davidic descent. If the purpose of the Messiah was to fulfill this promise through the establishment of a bloodline of kings, then we have a very serious problem on our hands – 2,000 years worth of it.

Ardent students of scripture will know, undoubtedly that the prophecies concerning the Messiah refer to two distinct occurrences, one in which He suffers as a servant, and one in which He rules and reigns as King forever.

Proponents of the bloodline view point to a number of misunderstandings and outright falsehoods which exist in modern theology. They do so in order to bolster their position and strengthen the claim that this information is “hidden” or “encoded” in the scriptures for only those given “special knowledge” to decode and disseminate. That should be your giant red-flag right there.

They would have you believe that Miriam / Mary of Magdala was the wife of Yeshua / Jesus and that, she, or more specifically her womb constitutes the cup… the Holy Grail. They will point out that the popular representation of Mary of Magdala as a prostitute is a complete fabrication and push the narrative that she was maligned so as to obscure the “truth” of her marriage to Yeshua and the existence of His offspring.

Now let’s be clear – there is no scriptural basis from which to claim that Mary was a prostitute. There is no scriptural basis from which to conclude that Mary of Magdala was the woman who washed Yeshua’s feet with her tears – many people believe this, but the information simply isn’t there. The choice however, isn’t binary – that is, it isn’t an ether / or situation. Mary can quite simply not have been a prostitute (and she wasn’t) and not have been married to Yeshua of Nazareth (and she wasn’t).

Lastly – as I don’t want to spend an inordinate amount of time debunking a theology that should be obviously false – the fact remains that a bloodline would do absolutely nothing with regards to fulfilling the sacrificial requirements imposed upon us by the fall of man.

“The next day, Yochanan saw Yeshua coming toward him and said, “Look! God’s lamb! The one who is taking away the sin of the world!”

John 1:29

If Yeshua came to establish a bloodline, then Yochanan / John the Baptist was an idiot, a madman, or both. Does that make you uncomfortable? … Because it should.

Now, we find ourselves in a time when someone, claiming exactly this (whether or not they realize it) is amassing a following world-wide. They can do so because people either do not know what scripture actually says, or don’t think through the logical ramifications of the ideology they are backing.

“Adonai will raise up for you a prophet like me from among yourselves, from your own kinsmen. You are to pay attention to him, just as when you were assembled at Horev and requested Adonai your God, ‘Don’t let me hear the voice of Adonai my God any more, or let me see this great fire ever again; if I do, I will die!’ On that occasion Adonai said to me, ‘They are right in what they are saying. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kinsmen. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I order him. Whoever doesn’t listen to my words, which he will speak in my name, will have to account for himself to me.”

Deuteronomy 18:15 – 19 CJB

That, from the hand of Moses, speaks of one who would – and did – come. Not a bloodline, not a lineage… one. As for me, I will shema (listen and obey) to the one of whom he spoke, the one promised by the Father. As for me and my house, we will serve YHVH (Joshua 24:15).
