Seeing the Matrix – Part One

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

Over the course of the last several years, the Lord has repeatedly used the Matrix films as a powerful analogy in re-framing the way in which I see the world. It should be no secret to those reading and / or following this site that perspective matters. Our worldview determines our thoughts and our thoughts translate to action. Seeing or perceiving correctly thus becomes paramount to fulfilling our calling and being the “real thing” as regards disciples of the Messiah.

Before we begin in earnest, I want to state up-front that we’re going to get a bit “out there”. People inevitably find themselves at varying levels of awakening to these matters and therefore, I find it prudent to disabuse some terminology that is all-too-often misused and therefore misunderstood regarding such matters.

Conspiracy does not equate to insane. A Conspiracy theory is therefore a theory regarding a perceived conspiracy.

Words mean things.

It is all too common these days for anything put forth which deviates from the ill-defined, yet ubiquitous narrative to be relegated to the realm of “internet conspiracy” or “conspiracy theory”. Those commenting on these allegations typically do so with the utmost contempt and do their best to equate the terms conspiracy and conspiracy theory with insane. The thing is, there are some flat-out crazy conspiracy theories out there… and yet there are also extremely plausible theories that go much further in terms of explaining events than our so-called “journalistic media”.

One of the fundamental precepts of this site – in it’s entirety – is that you must think for yourself. News and media organizations are as fallible, corruptible and potentially disingenuous as any individual and many have proven to be propaganda outlets straight from the playbook of one Joseph Goebbels. If the reporting of these organizations form the basis of what you accept as “reality”, I’d ask you to carefully reconsider.

We presently live in a system that is not designed specifically for our good, or for the good of our cultures or civilizations, but for the preservation and furtherance of the system itself; a matrix of sorts. The parallels between our present reality and those of the film are striking for those with eyes to see it – and it is this reality that I want to highlight.

To be clear, I’m not saying that we’re all actually sleeping in pods, physically plugged into a macabre machine that is siphoning our very life-force in to order to fuel its Machiavellian aims, but in symbolic terms we most assuredly are. Whether or not this system is the product of some secret cabal of dark figures clad in hooded robes remains to be seen, but make no mistake, there absolutely IS a conspiracy against us – that is all humanity. Sadly, it is coming to fruition and proving frighteningly successful.

If you’re unsure what I am referring to, I would advise you – as always – to read your bible. Once you get past the fallacious idea that you “can’t understand” it or that “it isn’t relevant today”, you may be chilled to the core regarding what it has to say on such matters…

Let’s back up for a moment and have a look at some of the symbolism I’m talking about regarding these films. As we move forward I’ll elaborate further on them and show you more clearly what it is I’m trying to get you to see. Understand that any analogy carried far enough, eventually breaks down – though I think you may be surprised at how far this one can be carried before doing so.

Awakening

Some plot-twists are lost to antiquity; once revealed, they will never again hold the same shock-value they did the first time you encountered them. Just like knowing that Darth Vader is actually Luke’s father, so is the horrific revelation of the matrix lost to time.

Do you recall the first time you watched this movie? I most certainly do. As an avid science fiction lover, I went with a sense of expectation, knowing that there was a dark technocratic future involved, but little else. I went anticipating a science fiction film and, for the first quarter of the movie, found myself perplexed and confused.

In place of radical technological concepts, I found the film addressing the rather mundane life of the protagonist, his illegal double-life and vague references to some reality beyond of all this – then came the reveal.

In a strangely climactic scene, the “hero” was presented with a choice between a red and blue pill… one marked acceptance of the lie and would return him to the illusion of life as he’d known it, while the other, would awakening him to a reality far more horrific and fantastic than he could have possibly imagined. Even here, the symbolism was layered and thick.

Let me clarify; we as believers have chosen to embrace the truth, regardless of the perceived consequences. We have chosen to accept reality as it is, rather than to supplant it with a reality of our liking. In short, we are Neo(s), striving against a system that tells us reality is what we physically sense, but knowing full-well that there is more to the story.

Once awakened, Neo sees the matrix for what it truly is; a fiendish system designed to enslave humanity and siphon their life-force, all while keeping them asleep and under the illusion that they are living their lives in “reality”. After coming to grips with the truth, Neo learns that those who are free of the matrix are relegated to living on the fringes and have taken refuge in a remote location known as Zion.

Through his (Neo’s) eyes, we learn that the entirety of everything he thought was true and real was actually the product of a designer perception. None of it was real or true, and all of it could in some form be likened to an enchanting spell, cast like a net over the entirety of humanity.

We learn that there are agents; malicious entities whose purpose is to keep each and every individual ensnared by the illusion and who are willing to possess and even destroy uninvolved bystanders in order to ensure this state of illusion is maintained.

There are numerous analogies and references made to various narratives within the biblical record throughout these films and these are but a few; Neo, anagram for “the One” or “the Elect”, Trinity, the city of Zion, Morpheus’ ship is called the Nebuchadnezzar… again, we’re barely scratching the surface.

Do you see the corollaries? It couldn’t be made much plainer, and that’s not due to any effort on my behalf, it’s just a basic synopsis of the first film. For whatever reason, the authors did this on purpose. Color me skeptical on whether or not this was an act of benevolence because, as much truth as I see hidden in plain sight, I also see Gnostic doctrine… but you don’t “throw the baby our with the bathwater”.

So far, I’ve only provided the vaguest and most basic analogies regarding the matrix and our reality. As we move forward in this series, I want to specifically explore this concept as it pertains to the Seven Mountains of Societal Influence – as these are the very tools used by the Architect to construct this matrix we find ourselves in now. If you are unfamiliar with this concept, I encourage you to do some research.

All that to say, more to come. Until then…
