I had an experience earlier this week that I’d like to share with you. It was fairly unique – and given the number of spiritual encounters I’ve experienced in my life, that is saying something! I feel led to share it because I believe it speaks to a principle that is very important at this time , particularly to those who are called by His name…
I was laying down to go to sleep, but when I shut my eyes, I could still see my room. There was an odd, orange-ish light that caused everything in view to be silhouetted. Gathered around my bed were a large number of shadowy figures who appeared to be shouting at me. Although there was no audible sound, I knew what they were saying and shouting, because their words invaded my thoughts. They were yelling at me and telling me that I was failing… particularly in some specific assignments that I was given by YHVH. Every word put forth was one of discouragement and intended to make me give up.
As this transpired, I literally felt my head vibrating. I was not afraid – this is “not my first rodeo” after all, and quite frankly, I have experienced enough to know the demonic when I encounter it. I was just about to open my mouth and call on the name of Yeshua to rebuke this, but even at the thought, God moved! A large figure rose in the back of the room. Although he too was silhouetted against the back light, I knew somehow that this was an Angel of the most high. He walked forward and casually reached out his hand and flung the other figures away from me. At once the thoughts ceased and my head stopped vibrating. I sat up in bed, opened my eyes and thanked this angel for intervening. Then I lay down and proceeded to have a very restful nights’ sleep.
The essence of this experience is what I like to refer to as a “do you know ho I am?!” moment. It’s not something borne of arrogance, but is, in fact, something grounded in truth and found in scripture.
The truth is, such voices have been shouting at us – at all of us – for quite some time. Mocking, jeering, demoralizing and otherwise doing everything within their power to keep us from embracing our true identity… lest we recognize the real authority we possess as a result.
Several years ago, the Lord gave me a number of words that spoke to my identity in Him, and I had memorized them. Today I have been instructed to share one of them with you and show you from where it comes… repeat after me:
I am a son (or daughter) of the Living God and a co-heir with and through Yeshua haMashiach / Jesus the Messiah
Let that sink in for a moment, because the implications of this statement are profound. Furthermore, it comes straight from the very portion of Romans that constitutes the underlying principle that this site is named for:
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children. And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)—if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.
Romans 8:15 – 17
Now, think about it for a moment; if you were a prince, or a princess – and you were being accosted (verbally or otherwise) by some degenerate vagabond… is that something you’d really have to tolerate? Such a ridiculous confrontation would likely be ended with a simple question; “do you know who I am?”
The question then becomes – do you know who you are? Do you know that you are a child of the King of the Universe? Do you even begin to fathom the blessing and authority that comes with that? You are a prince / princess – and you need to remember that and “lean into it”.
You see, whether we see and hear them or not, we absolutely are being accosted right now! Presently, the forces of the adversary are working in overdrive. I see it at nearly every turn. They are working fervently to undo things the Lord has done, and laboring feverishly to prevent those things He is yet to do… but this will all be in vain. The Lord does not change ad His word does not return unto Him void. In the meantime, you need not suffer the slings and arrows or torment from the enemy. You are a child of the King – the commander of the Armies of Heaven. He can – and will – intervene in your circumstance at a moments notice. At a thought.
You are who He says your are.
