Call Me Caleb… or a Fool, Whichever You Prefer

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

It really makes no difference to me either way. As I’ve stated many times before: “there’s one opinion in the universe that actually matters – and suck it up buttercup, ’cause it ain’t yours.”

Allow me to elaborate.

You see, it has come to my attention that some of the prophetic voices who have spoken into this election cycle have recanted. One particular prophetic voice whom I quoted previously, has gone so far as to issue an apology letter for flat out “missing it” with regards to prophesying accurately. If you are so inclined, you can read that letter for yourself.

Know that this but one example; there have been others who have either wholly or partially recanted or otherwise relented in their position and honestly, it saddens me. I have stated numerous times both here and in conversations that judgment starts first in the house of the Lord; e.g. God deals with His own first, then with everyone else. What’s sad is what is being revealed as a battle-cry of “false prophet!” rings throughout the church, and those against which such accusations are levied seem to cave to the pressure. It is exposing the character of both those accused, and their accusers.

I am reminded that Isaiah would not recant what he’d heard from the Lord under pain of death. In fact, they put him in a hollow log and sawed him in half. Isaiah didn’t recant because he couldn’t… the words were not his own, but a message from the King of the Universe. As lacking as most are these days with regards to understanding the severity of such a principle, I will not be counted among them. I know what I’ve heard from the throne and not one iota of that message has changed.

Do we really understand the list of voices we would have to decry as false prophets in order to accept the narrative being put before us? I sincerely doubt that most do, but once again I will not be found among that number. I know full-well some of the great prophetic voices now and of days past that would be indicted under such allegations and let’s be frank; this is not a matter to be trifled with.

“Don’t touch my chosen ones. Don’t harm my prophets.”

Psalm 105:15

Last week I touched on the very same principle I stand on even now – that God is sovereign and well able to fulfill His will even at the eleventh hour, fifty-nine minutes and fifty-nine seconds. So am I saying that’s what’s going to happen here? Yep – sure looks like it. Some will undoubtedly see me as foolish for holding out when it appears that it’s all over but the crying – but if I am a fool, then I am a fool for the Lord [1 Corinthians 4:10].

I, on the other hand, see things very, very differently.

They came back to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community of the Israelites in the wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They reported to the whole community and showed the fruit of the land. They told Moses, “We went to the land where you sent us. It is indeed flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. But the inhabitants are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites live in the land of the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.”

.

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses, saying, “Let us go up and occupy it, for we are well able to conquer it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against these people, because they are stronger than we are!” Then they presented the Israelites with a discouraging report of the land they had investigated, saying, “The land that we passed through to investigate is a land that devours its inhabitants. All the people we saw there are of great stature. We even saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak came from the Nephilim), and we seemed like grasshoppers both to ourselves and to them.”

Numbers 13:26 – 33

Notice that, at no point do either Caleb or Joshua refute the claims of the other spies… only the conclusion they drew. Like Caleb, I am not ignoring present circumstance – I am calling for people to dismiss the discouraging report.

If the Lord delights in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land that is flowing with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord, and do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection has turned aside from them, but the Lord is with us. Do not fear them!”

Numbers 14:8 – 9

So here I stand, toes in the waters of the Yam Suph (Red Sea), awaiting the hand of Almighty God. Yes, I hear the thundering of hooves in the distance – and yet, I will not fear, I will not recant, I will not relent. God is about to do something great… and on the other side of that watery chasm, lies the land of the promise.

… “We do not need to give you a reply concerning this. If our God whom we are serving exists, he is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will rescue us, O king, from your power as well. But if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we don’t serve your gods, and we will not pay homage to the golden statue that you have erected.”

Daniel 3:16 – 18

This isn’t about an election – it isn’t about a man. It never has been. This is about the future of our children and of our children’s children.

Until next time,
