Bursting the Bubble

I won’t sugar-coat it; 2022 sucked.

In the past year, I’ve lost my cat, my dog and my mentor.

I’ve had my livelihood threatened by an illegitimate government engaged in a massive authoritarian overreach which, to my horror, the populace of my nation largely went along with. Many went so far as to castigate and even demonize those who stood for freedom, choice, and bodily autonomy over the elusive “peace and security” sought by an unthinking mass of humanity.

To date, nothing has manifested that promises to right the wrongs of a fraudulent election, to depose illegitimate leaders, to seek the accountability of those who profiteered from fear-mongering and even profited from the maiming and death of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people the world over.

Likewise, nothing appears set to redirect the errant course of a culture gone mad… at least nothing that I can see.

I don’t say any of this simply to complain – nor is it some ham-fisted attempt drum up some level of sympathy from the readers here. I share this to provide a backdrop, a foundation of sorts to illustrate to you how it is I have come to my present perspective…

The church in America is going to suffer so terribly, and… we laugh now, but they will come after us, they will come after our children – they will close the net around us while we are playing ‘soccer-mom’ and ‘soccer-dad’ – while we are arguing over so many little things and mesmerized by so many trinkets. The net, even now, is closing around you and your children and your grandchildren and it does not cause you to fear.

Paul Washer – 2015

As cited, Paul Washer stated this in a panel discussion back in 2015, and his words, though they rang true at the time, now stand as a prophetic utterance.

Given the gifts of hindsight and discernment, we can see that while the matter to which he spoke has not fully concluded, you’d be hard-pressed to not see this occurring even now. I mean, I’ve heard statements from even the most staunchly optimistic among my circle that tell me that they see it.

Heck, everything has grown so utterly stark and obvious… how could you not?

In 2021 I penned an article called “The Dress Rehearsal” – a word I stand fully behind to this day. Thing is, what follows the dress-rehearsal… ?

In the past several years I have become increasingly aware of the net of which Paul spoke – it’s the proverbial “bubble” we live in within western society. While believers in the west hear of, receive testimony and pray for those who have been, and are being actively persecuted for our faith, we scarcely comprehend the reality of it all.

I mean, let’s face it, believers in the west think being suspended on Twitter or shadow-banned on Facebook is a problem – one has to wonder what they would think if their own countrymen were actively hunting and killing them?

That day is coming quickly upon us and I for one, am deeply concerned. Most modern Evangelical Christians hold to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture – a theology I am beginning to view as an outright, damnable heresy. They believe that they’ll all be snatched away before anything bad happens to them – and they hold this view while the lives and livelihoods of believing brothers and sisters the world over are utterly destroyed on a daily basis.

What – I wonder – will happen to their faith if and when matters do not unfold in the manner they expected. What will happen when, just as the bible says, they must suffer for their faith? What happens when people realize that “last trump” actually means last trump?

Now, don’t get me wrong, there are certainly those who currently hold this view who have the mettle to weather what’s really coming – but I think they’ll be the exception…. not the rule.

I’ve covered the rapture issue many times on this site, but that actually isn’t the point of this article – the point is how woefully unprepared the western church is a whole – and that’s not a product of pre-tib theology alone. No, over generations we’ve grown soft and weak – hardly recognizing or contemplating the warnings of scripture. Why are we told to “count the cost” if the cost is a simple trip down front at an altar call to recite a “repeat-after-me” prayer in front of other people?

There is an epidemic among espousing Christians of weak, anemic faith, and when the rubber meets the road, we’re going to find out PDQ who is and who is not an actual disciple of the King.

I hope you are counted among those who are.

Until next time,
